Introduction to curved monitors and their benefits
A curved monitor is a screen that curves inward, but what are the real-life benefits for users? We know that they kind of look cool, and seem to fit in on tech movies that we have seen where they want to be cutting edge… but it really begs the question, ” what is so good about a curved monitor?”
If you have no idea about this new wavy type of screen and want to learn about some of the benefits, then keep reading, as, to be honest, we didn’t really have a very good idea before we wrote this. We have already done a review of the best monitors you can buy right now, but none of them were curved so we had to ask the question about how good they really are for everyday users.
There are a few different types of curved monitors on the market, and each has its own pros and cons. In this article, we will look at some of the benefits of using a curved monitor.
Advantages of a curved monitor
A curved monitor can offer a couple of advantages over a traditional flat monitor, so let’s take a look at the specific areas that curved monitors that offer something above and beyond the typical flat-faced monitors we have known for the past 10 or so years. We know that every once in a while a new type of tech comes out, and sometimes they’re life-changing… and sometimes the only thing they change is the amount of money in your wallet…. so without any more delays here are the benefits curved monitors offer:
Curved monitors provide a more immersive experience
Curved monitors provide a more immersive experience for users by enveloping them in whatever they are playing, or watching on the screen. It is almost like a hug for your eyes… if that makes sense because it can wrap around your field of vision and enrich your peripheral vision.
This can benefit work, play, and even casual web browsing. The curve creates a more natural field of vision that is closer to how the human eye views the world. But the more intense interaction on the screen that you have like gaming or watching movies, the higher the return will be for your investment.
Curved monitors can help reduce eye strain
Curved monitors can help reduce eye strain because they allow you to see the entire screen without moving your eyes as much. This can be especially beneficial for people who spend a lot of time looking at computer screens. So if you can spend hours a day on the screen, then this might be the right choice for you, but really is it worth it over a high-quality flat screen monitor at a similar price range….?
Curved monitors offer wider viewing angles
A curved monitor is a type of computer display with a curved, inward shape. Perhaps the most significant advantage is that it provides a broader viewing angle.
This can be beneficial for both work and entertainment purposes. For example, if you’re working on a design project, you’ll be able to see the full extent of your work more easily than you would on a flat screen.
A curved monitor is a display device that curves around the user’s field of vision. Because of this, it creates an immersive experience that can benefit some users, but is it really worth it? To be honest, we don’t think so for two reasons.
- We don’t stare at our computer screens for so long that we get sore eyes from moving them around the screen. If you do, then perhaps it is worth it … but you could just get a bigger screen.
- The cost of the benefits just doesn’t make sense to us. The price of a mid-range curved monitor is much higher than a high-end monitor in the same price range. Couple that with the flat monitor being bigger, it is just hard for us to say YES, A CURVED MONITOR IS THE BEST EVERRR.
If you want a cool talking point or have eye injuries from looking at your screen too much ( with some money to burn) then a curved monitor might be for you, but for us, we are good with any of the best value-based monitors we found in our other reviews.
